About LifeTec
LifeTec is a not-for-profit organisation helping Queenslanders explore assistive technology, communication options and home modifications. Since 1981, we have supported people of different ages and abilities to find practical ways to participate in everyday life.
Our occupational therapists and speech pathologists provide independent advice, assessments, trials and support based on each person’s goals.

What guides us
Our vision
A society where people of all ages and abilities can actively engage in home, work, school and community life, enabled by assistive technology.
Our mission
To help people of all age groups, abilities and diagnoses live their potential through assistive technology.
Our strategic purpose
To connect people and communities through assistive technology to enable their aspirations.
We work directly with people, share knowledge, explore new approaches and advocate for more accessible and inclusive options.
Our beginnings
LifeTec’s roots go back to 1981, when Louise van Willigen founded the Independent Living Centre Association of Queensland. She championed people’s right to impartial professional advice and helped grow the organisation from a small display centre into a statewide service.
Her commitment to accessibility, innovation and respect for each person continues to shape LifeTec’s work today.
